The first show that she sent a letter out on me was a show called in L.A. on Channel 4 and it was called and she sent it out and they sent back and said, “Oh, no, it will take 6 or 7 months to put Barbara on the show because our talent are booked way in advance.” Chris called and said, “How do you like that? Seven months before I can get you on the show. Are you still going through this insane thing?” I said, “Chris, send them some more information. Tell them that I’m a Christian and I want to talk to people. I’ve got to get my message across about God.” She sent another letter back and they called and said, “Please have her out as soon as you can.” I did that show.
They had never done this before, Richard. And, you know, I have disobeyed God because God has asked me to get out there and really talk about him and let people know there is a God. Women that are in business that are successful, you know, will come to me now and say, “Gee, you know what? If you can be a Christian and look the way you look, why can’t I be a Christian?” because they thought that in order to be a Christian and serve God you had to look unkempt, you didn’t wear any makeup, your clothes didn’t look right, they came from homes where the parents said, “If you’re a Christian, you don’t dress up.” I have spoken around the country and I’ve had so many come to me and say, “Look, if you can be a Christian and believe in the Lord and do what you’re doing, so can I.” When I became a Christian, I want you to know, Richard, that things were not as great in the beginning the first six months, yes. It was beautiful. My sales went up, my buyers were changing their appearance, about me, their personal about me. Things were going great and then all of a sudden the rug, the whole floor went out.
SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS The bottom fell out. SPKM BARBARA WALDEN Satan got on to me and I had friends of 22 years who started calling me names, who said, “You are insane.” I was sitting at a dinner table in a restaurant with my dear friend of 22 years and she turned to me and said, “Barbara, what kind of garbage is this you believe in, who will let little babies die?” He said, “You are one of the most intelligent women I’ve ever met. You are insane.” Then he started calling me stupid. I turned to my friend and said, “God doesn’t let little babies die. The devil lets babies die.” And, you know, the other friend said to me, “Then we’re serving the wrong god, if the devil has more power.” I went through, believe me I cried and I prayed and I fell on my knees. Sometimes I’d get on my knees and I’d just crawl around in my bedroom and say, “God, I need you. Help me. I’m new at this. Tell me what to do,” because I look at your father and what happened to your dad and when I was going to be on your show I got phone calls saying, “Are you going to do that show? You wouldn’t be going there.” And I said, “Look, let me tell you something. You don’t know what God will tell you to do.” Do you know, if I would tell the world the things that God has told me to say and do, they would really think I was crazy. Last night in my hotel room I said, “God, I’m doing this show. I want you to speak through my tongue. You tell me.” Do you know what he said to me? “I’ve told you and I’ve told you that you must bring the people in to God. You must not be embarrassed. Don’t think that if you go out there and talk about God they’re going to say, ‘Well, she’s doing it to enhance her business.’ Your business has been successful. You are talking about God. Forget about that.”
And this is what I’m doing on this show. If there is anybody out there that is listening to me today and if you don’t have God in your heart, time is running out. That’s what the Holy Spirit spoke to you last night in your hotel room and I think you just ought to look at them and pray for them right now.
