In other words, the communication system that Adam had with God was going to die.  Adam was going to die in his relationship with God.  You will die spiritually.  That’s what that means.

And the baptism with the Holy Spirit is our way of reconnecting.  All right, the very innermost part of your being is called your spirit, your pneuma, p-n-e-u-m-a, pneuma.  If you ever go to seminary, you’ll take a course on pneumatology, which is on the class on the Holy Spirit.  The innermost part of your being is called your spirit, or your pneuma.  That’s Greek.  Pneuma is Greek.  And this was how you were created, your spirit, to know God.

An animal has a body and a soul, but human beings have body, soul, and spirit.  So when man chose to disobey God by nourishing his mind over nourishing his spirit, or choosing to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil rather than choosing to eat of the tree of life, as God had given him direction, he elevated his mind over his spirit.

Now get a picture of this.  Here is man with his spirit ruling his life.  He’s in communication with God.  Satan comes in, screws the deal up.  Adam and Eve get into sin.  The contract is broken.  The communion is broken.  The covenant is broken, because Adam has taken his mind and elevated it above his spirit.

And ever since then, most of mankind has been ruled by the mind, not by the spirit.  That is what is taught in most universities across this country, the elevation of the mind, that you are a mind.  Well, ORU comes along, saying, “No, you are not a mind.  You are a spirit.  Your spirit will live forever.  Your mind and your body will not live forever, on earth, that is.  But your spirit man will live forever.

Remember when God told Abraham to go to a certain place, and He’d tell him where he was when he got there?  I’m the proverbial wilderness experience.  I cannot find my way out of my driveway. My husband says I can get lost in my driveway.  My mother agrees with him.

But I felt the leading of the Lord to go, and I said,  ”Richard, just drive, and when the Holy Spirit tells me to stop, I’ll tell you to stop, and we’re going to do this thing.”  And he was so obedient because he knew the presence of God was directing us.

We got up to the top, and I said, “Stop the car.”  The earth began to shake under my feet.  I’ve been in enough California earthquakes to think that’s what was going on.  And I looked at Richard, and I said, “Do you feel that?”  He said, “No.”  I said,  ”OK, then it’s the Holy Ghost and not an earthquake.  I’m getting out of the car.”

And I got out of the car, and do you remember what happened?  You come back me now on this, because now it’s both of our words against yours.  Do you remember what happened?  Who was there? RR: Well, it was a courtyard area, and there was a gated wall at the top of Forest Lawn, and obviously there was an area where nobody could get in without a key.  And there was a crippled man who was sitting around a pool or a fountain, with braces and crutches sitting next to him.  He was sitting there all by himself; there was nobody else there.

And I parked the car with the children, and you got out, and you walked over to the man.

LR: And do you remember what he said?

RR: Yes, I do.

LR: I looked at him, and I said, “Katherine Kuhlman’s grave is right inside there, isn’t it?”  And he said, “Yes, it is.”

Isaiah 6:  “In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, holy God.”  What would you do if you saw the Lord on His throne, high and lifted up with the angels encamped?”  I don’t know if I could behold it.

Joyce Meyer laid her hands on me, thank you very much George.  Afterwards she said, “Lindsay, I pulled something out of you, and imparted something into you.”        I said, “No, you shot me out of a cannon in public!  But the truth of the matter is, when you’re under the power and the presence of Almighty God, I dare you to try and stand up.

“In the year that king Uzziah died,? this is Isaiah speaking, “I saw the Lord.”  Now we talk about Isaiah as one of the greatest prophets because He prophesied the Lord Jesus Christ and His coming.  But read this.  He said, “I saw the Lord.”  Now you’re going to find Isaiah’s personality, and you might not like him much.

“And He was on the throne, high and lifted up, and His train (or His glory) filled the temple.  And above it stood the seraphim; each one of them had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and two he did fly.  And one cried unto the other and said, “Holy, holy, holy.?”

I tell you, I don’t know if my mouth could even say, “Holy, holy, holy,? if I saw the Lord like that.

“He said, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts, and the whole earth,? the whole earth – where are we living?  the earth –  ”the whole earth is filled with His glory.”  That’s His honor, Hispresence, and His power.

“And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him who cried.”  I tell you what, when God speaks, your doorpost better move.  “And the house was filled with smoke.”  That word actually translates to the anointing from the glory of God.  “And then I said, “Woe is me, I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of people who are unclean.”  But my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.”

Because you get into the Word of God.  God talks like He writes; He writes like He talks, and there is no difference in between. Christians have listened to a lot of counterfeit anointings.  I was listening to a news thing, 14 or 15 years ago, and it was on a cable news station, where the owner of the station said, “The farther away I get from God, the better I feel.  Christianity is a religion for losers.”  That was Ted Turner, and he said it in the Dallas Morning News.  I’m not quoting him of something he didn’t say.  If it’s printed in the Dallas Morning News, quoting himself, he said it.

You think about a man that says, “The farther away I get from Christianity, the better I feel.  Christianity is a religion for losers,? then why would I sit and listen to him on television give me advice about a man named Oral Roberts, that I’m married to his son?

But it was going around the world every 30 minutes.  And the Lord spoke to me and said, “Turn that off.”  And I said, “Why?”  And He said, “Don’t ever go to Goliath for advice on David’s ministry.  Goliath doesn’t see it from the same perspective.”

It’s time we got into the Word of God, we opened up the can, we stopped labeling all this junk, and we go into the Word of God.

The story is told of a young man who suffered from severe dyslexia, learning disabilities.  In fact, he was held back so many times, by the time he was in 9th grade, he had already been  held back two full years, and he had been told that he was so severely labeled with a learning disability, that he really, honestly needed to quit school in 9th grade.  And he did.

When Jesus spoke that word, the tree looked the same.  But the next day when they passed by the tree, it had dried up from the roots.  You see, it may look like nothing’s happening on the outside, but don’t discount what is happening on the inside.

You say, “Well, God hasn’t touched me yet.”  He may be touching you and you just don’t know it yet.  Now that’s method number four.  Four or five, I don’t remember.  Two more.  Real quickly now, two more.

The next method is anointing oil.  The book of James says we are to anoint with oil.  On Friday I had a pastors’ conference and there were 750 pastors.  And I took a bottle of anointing oil and I put it on my hands, and I laid my hands on every one of those pastors and I anointed them with oil.  There’s no power in the oil.  It’s just oil.  But it’s a symbol of the power of God.  That’s another method of healing.

One time we had some anointing oil, and my father and I prayed over it and we sent it out in little vials.  And we gave them the scripture of anointing with oil.  And a woman wrote back and said, “Dear Brother Roberts, I received the anointing oil.  I drank it, and I have felt better ever since.”  I didn’t intend for her to drink it.  I didn’t tell her to drink it.  It certainly was not going to hurt her.  But she drank it.

We sent it to another family.  Their son had been deaf in one ear.  They took the oil and they poured it in their son’s ear, and his ear was healed.  The oil is not the healer.  However, it points you to the one who is the healer.  Now that’s number five.

Richard Roberts – I’ve got time for one more.  One more.  One more.  One more is the prayer cloth.  Acts 19, Paul took handkerchiefs and aprons, or what we would call cloths, and he prayed over them.  And they were laid upon the sick, and the sick were healed, and the demonic spirits were driven out.

RR: Tonight for just the next few moments I want to talk to you about “Methods of Healing.”  God has more than one method.  He’s not limited to one way.  He has a number of methods that He uses.

Now the question I have to you is, “Is healing all Holy Spirit or does our faith have a role to play in it?”  Well, certainly healing comes from God.  He is the source of healing.  Man has no healing power.  I certainly have no healing power.  I would heal if I could, but I’m just a man.  I’m just an instrument.  So we know that healing comes from God.

But we also see that our faith has a role to play in it.  Notice what Jesus said to the Roman centurion, “Go your way and as you have believed, so shall it be done.”  Notice what He said to the woman with the issue of blood, “Your faith has made you well.”  Notice what He said to the two blind men, “According to your faith, let it be done unto you.”  Notice what He said to the Syrophoenician woman, “Great is your faith.  Let it be done even as you have prayed.”  So our faith has a role to play in it.

Now let’s talk about different methods.  The method that I was most familiar with as I grew up was the laying on of hands.  The laying on of hands is one method.  It’s not the only method, but it’s one method.

Now the reason why I was so acquainted was because that’s the method God gave my father Oral Roberts.  My father laid hands on the sick.  And the Bible tells us that we believers shall lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

Richard Roberts – We sow it tonight with all of our love, all of our prayers, and all of our faith.  And we say to the devil, “You take your hands off our seed.  This seed belongs to God, and I sow it to Him.  And as I sow it, I expect God to use it for His glory and then to multiply it back to me good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, in the name of Jesus.”  Can you say amen?  Amen.  Can you say amen?  Amen.

JORDAN: Good evening, everyone.  It is such a pleasure to be here with you.  We had an incredible day today.  We spent the early part of the morning here in the amphitheater, right outside that way.  And we looked at some of the boxes of the food that we brought with us.  We loaded them off one truck and onto another truck.  That truck was going to take it out into the villages and pass it out to families.

And after that, we had an incredible opportunity to visit an orphanage.  We spent some time with the missionaries that run that orphanage, a wonderful, wonderful couple.  They’re from America, but have come and lived here for over 30 years.  They are here tonight, and they were up on stage earlier.

We had some opportunity to spend time with them and sing with them this afternoon.  But what got to me the most was actually what they gave to me.  Like Dr. Powell was saying earlier, how God sent him all the way here to show him God’s love through the pastors, the exact same thing happened to me today.  God sent me all the way here to show me His love through a wonderful group of children.

They ministered to me in a way that was incredible.  As we sat up there and talked to them for just a few moments, my heart was broken through how much love they were pouring into us.

Richard Roberts – We didn’t have anything to give them.  We just spent some time with them.  But the love that God showed through them is something that I will never forget as long as I live.  We had the greatest day today.

It must have been difficult for God to love the world, with all the hatred, with all the violence, with all the problems in the world.  It must be difficult for God to love the world.  But the Bible says He so loved.  He didn’t just love; He so loved.  He so loved that it caused Him to do something.  It caused Him to give.

My friends of El Salvador, I can give to you without loving you, but I cannot love you without giving to you.  I can give to you without loving you, but I cannot love you without giving to you.

I can tell my wife, “I love you,” and that sounds wonderful.  But I must do something to demonstrate that love.  My words alone are not enough.  It takes an action in order for her to know of my love.  I must not just say it.  I must put action to my words.

And God put action to His words.  He so loved that He gave.  And what did He give?  He gave His best.  He did not give His second best.  He did not give an angel.  He did not give a legion of angels.  He gave His Son.  He had only one Son, and He gave Him.  And He gave Him for a reason, so that men and women would not perish, but have everlasting life.  God made His love an act of His giving.  He gave His Son so that you and I would not perish, but have everlasting life.

His Son Jesus was born of a virgin.  At the age of 30 He entered into His public ministry.  And for three and a half years, He went about preaching and teaching and healing.  He was either on His way to heal somebody, or He was there healing them, or He was on His way to heal somebody else.

Richard Roberts – Wherever He went, cripples were healed.  Blind eyes were opened.  Deaf ears were unstopped.  Infirmity came out of people’s bodies because He’s a healing Jesus.

I don’t know.  I’m not going to try to figure that out.  I’m not going to be so analytical that I try to get all the answers.  I just know when that time comes, I am going.

The Bible says when I meet Him in the air, then I will live with Him forever.  But not only to be with Him in heaven, but to come back with Him on this earth and to rule and to reign.  That’s what the Bible says.

I’ve got news for you.  I am not going to hell.  I’m not going to hell.  I say to the devil, “Hell, no!”  Turn to the person next to you and say, “Hell, no!”

The Bible says it is not His will that any perish.  My wife is not going to hell.  My daughter is not going to hell.  My other daughters are not going to hell.  We’re going to heaven.  And if the world doesn’t like it, too bad.

I’m a Christian, and I’m not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God to salvation, to everyone who believes.  I’m not ashamed that I speak in tongues.  And when I speak in tongues, the devil doesn’t know what I’m saying.  It makes him so mad.  If he’s mad, I’m glad.  I’d like to kick him anyway.

You know, the Bible talks about the devil being bruised in his head.  He’s been a schizophrenic ever since the Garden of Eden.  Satan thinks he’s going to win.  That’s why he’s fighting so hard against you.  But he is not going to win.  He is not going to win.

Richard Roberts – He’s not going to get me.  He’s not going to get my wife.  He’s not going to get my children.  He’s not going to get my money.  He’s not going to get my ministry.  He’s not going to get the university.

And every time I try to take a step forward, satan tries to knock me back.  That should not be that unusual because satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy.  He’s against you.  He doesn’t want you to live.  He wants to steal your life.  He wants to steal your family.  He wants to steal your possessions.  He wants to steal your spouse, your family.  He wants to destroy your finances.  He wants you to make it as if you were never born.  So, therefore, he comes against your mind, your will, and your emotions.

And Paul said, “O wretched man that I am!”  And yet he was a man of God.  How did he handle those things that come against his soul realm?  He would say, “Get down, flesh.”  He would cast down that negative deadly emotion.

He was saying, “I’ll never be able to stop the bad thoughts from coming, but I don’t have to entertain them when they arrive.”  In other words, you’ll not stop the devil from coming against your soul, but when he comes, you can say, “No, devil, you can’t have me.  You can’t have my husband, my wife.  You can’t have my children.  You can’t have my family.  You can’t have my money.  You can’t have my business.  You can’t have my ministry.  You can’t have my property.  You can’t have me because I belong to God.  I was paid for by the shed blood of Jesus.  So, satan, get out.  You can’t have me.”  That’s how you cast down those negative deadly emotions.

Richard Roberts – So what are you asking God?  Are you trying to figure God out?   Well, I have news for you.  You’ll never figure God out.  He is not—I don’t know how you say it in French—He is not—you can’t figure Him out.  He’s not figuratable.  That’s not a word.  I’ll just make that up.
