God is your Source by Richard Roberts

And I’ve heard my dad preach it so many times and you have too, “God is your Source,” you know.  It’s not your government, not your country.  According Lindsay Roberts to tells us that thank God for your government.  Thank God for your country.  Thank God for whoever is in the White House.  Thank God and pray for them.  Thank God for these people that do their jobs.

But they’re not our source.  Our bank is not our source.  Our paycheck is not our source.  Our family is not our source.  God almighty is our source. ORU

It looks like in the natural that we’re coming into a tough season.  Seasons come and go.  Stock markets rise, stock markets plummet.  And then they come right back up again.  But you can’t live your life according to the stock markets.  You can’t live your life according to CNN.  You can’t live your life according to the circumstances that you see around you.  You have to live your life dedicated to God. And I heard the Lord say to me earlier today, “This is a divine moment.”  Now I was studying my Bible the other day about some divine moments in the Bible.  And one of the first divine moments I came across was when this Roman army captain came to Jesus and said, “My military aide needs healing.”  And Jesus said, “I’ll come and heal him.”

Oral Roberts tells us that the centurion said to Him, “It’s not necessary for you to come because I also am a man under authority.  I understand godly principles.  I have the authority given me by Caesar.  And I speak to my soldiers, tell them go, go, and they come, or to come and do this and they do it.  But I recognize that you, Jesus, you have authority over all authority.  You’re God’s only Son, and You have authority.  So you don’t have to come.  You just speak the word, and my military aide will be healed.”

Richard Roberts – I Corinthians 14:40 is a verse that we take very seriously around here.  “Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

The book of Acts by Richard Roberts

And in my spirit I saw crippled people walking tonight.  I saw cataracts falling off.  I saw glaucoma leaving eyes.  I saw ears that were completely blocked, I saw perforations in eardrums being healed.  I saw cancers falling off of people’s bodies.  Not because of me, not because of anything that I say and do, but because of Jesus.

And there’s an atmosphere for that.  In fact, Jesus is touching someone right now.  Lindsay Roberts tells us that someone has a left arm that’s two inches to three inches—yes, two to three inches shorter than your other arm.  And right now, even as I’m speaking, your arm is growing out to the same length as the other arm.  You’ll know it’s you because you’ll feel this warmth coming down right now.

There’s another person watching, you have this pain that goes right down your neck, down your shoulder, down your arm.  And you feel like your arm is withering up because you flinch every time you try to move it.  And God is healing you right now.

Now here’s what I want you to do.  I want you to stretch your hands out toward me right now.  And everybody here in the audience, would you do the same, please. Oral Roberts University shows that there’s something special about the touch.  Now it’s not my touch.  My hands are human hands.  But the Bible says in the book of Acts that God worked through the hands of the disciples.  In fact, He worked special miracles through the hands of Paul.

Richard Roberts – We believe that anything that connects and communicates the gospel of Jesus Christ or the nature and character of God should be done with excellence.  It should be thought through.

What are you doing here? by Richard Roberts

Everybody in our city is aware that each year thousands of Oral Roberts University students register to vote.  And if you take our community, if you take the community here at ORU, we amass, if you take all the students and their families, the graduate students and their wives, husbands, children, so on and so forth, as well as our faculty, staff and students and their families, we have a voting force of about 10,000.

What are you doing here, when I called you to be there?

But the Christian way has been to bury our heads in the sand and be uninvolved and then complain about the results.  I’ll tell you what, if you don’t gather the wheat, if you don’t crunch the wheat, if you don’t bake the bread, you’ve got no right to say, “This bread doesn’t taste right.”

What are you doing here, when I called you to be there?

It’s time for we Americans who call ourselves Christians and charismatics to stand up for what’s right.  Because if you don’t stand up for something, you’re going to fall for just about anything.

Lindsay Roberts says that now back to Elijah.  He obeyed.  And the time came when the anointing came on him to bring his protégé along.  And Elisha has now had his backyard barbecue.  And Elijah has learned.  But he wants to see what Elisha has learned.

And so as he travels, he says to Elisha, “You stay here.  I am going there.”

But Elisha has also studied the life and ministry of Elijah.  “No, no, no, no.  I’ve seen the mistakes of the past.  I’ve learned something by history.  I’ve read of your ministry.  I’ve heard you preach.  I’ve been under your ministry now.  I am not staying here.  I’m going there.”

And they get to the next place.  “Elisha, you stay here.  I’m going there.”

“No, no, no, no, no.  As the Lord liveth, I will not stay here.  I will go there.”

Why do we rehearse the heres of our life?  Look at Mark, chapter 16.  Look at those women coming to the tomb.  Their Messiah was dead and buried.  It was over.  He had been crucified, whipped until virtually unrecognizable, put in a borrowed grave.

And now they came out to the Sabbath.  The Romans had not been overthrown.  Their enemies had not been vanquished.  And they came with certain spices and found the stone had been rolled away, and a man seated on a rock in a white outfit.  “Where have they taken him?”

Richard Roberts – There should be a flow to it.  That is why we spend so much time planning these worship services.

The power of God by Richard Roberts

RR:   You that stood for back prayer, stand up one more time.  Begin to twist and turn and move and bend.  See what you can do now!  How many of you can tell when someone laid hands on you, you felt the power of God? Oh, my, my. .Look around.  Look at the hands.  Look at that, hundreds. Look at that.  Come on, twist and turn and move.  That’s God.

Real quickly, you who have problems in your shoulders, stand up. There’s a word of knowledge.  I just felt this snap!  I’ll oftentimes say to Lindsay Roberts , “Lindsay, I just felt my shoulder just snap and pop.”  Well, that’s not because there’s anything wrong with my shoulders, it’s because God is giving me a word of knowledge.  That’s how I oftentimes know.

And when the word of knowledge works through you, suddenly you feel something.  Pastor Bill I feel it first. I feel it; then I see it in my spirit.  I see someone who is suffering with that, and then someone gets healed.  And when I launch out and say what I feel….

And I’m instructing you.  When you say what you feel, at that moment it may make absolutely no sense to you.  And it may happen while you’re preaching.  God may just mess with your preaching.  And don’t do what I used to do.  I used to say, “God, wait until I finish preaching.”  Don’t do that!

Oral Roberts tells us that once we had a miracle that happened right in the middle of my sermon.  I gave the word, the person got healed and people began to rejoice.  I tried to preach, but God said, “Give an altar call.”  I said, “God, I’m not finished preaching yet.”  Don’t do that.

He said, “I said give an altar call.”  Well, Can’t I just get to the third point?  “No!”  Don’t do that.  Look, it’s His service; it’s not your agenda.  Don’t get on your agenda; get on His.

I remember one time I gave an invitation.  In the middle of the sermon a thousand people stood to give their lives to Christ.  And I said to God, “I wonder what would have happened if I had waited until the end?”  You know what He said back to me?  “Not much!”  (LAUGHTER)

Richard Roberts – We want the message to begin the moment you walk in the door.  We write our drama from scratch every week.

God will give you methods by Richard Roberts

And I tried to sign it, and I couldn’t write.  So I said, “Well, I’m just going to put my RR on it.  If you want me to sign it, I’ll just put my RR, and when I do, I’ll release my faith.”

Well, the phones started ringing.  And that wasn’t too long ago. And I’ve now signed over 70,000 of them.  And as of yesterday I’m 11,000 behind.  I ought to be signing them this week, but you’re here.  And I haven’t had any time.  And she’s got one right there with my RR on it. I signed that, ma?am.  Nobody signed that but me.

And God gave me a Bible method.  And I got a testimony from a woman last week whose husband had a stroke and went into a coma.  And the doctors were about to use the word, they were getting real close to using the word brain dead.  And she went into the hospital room in the ICU and put the prayer cloth on his head and prayed.  And the next morning he came out of the coma, and they released him from the hospital.

Lindsay Roberts tells us that another testimony from a girl who fell and broke her ankle and put the prayer cloth on her ankle, and God healed the bone.  We’ve had hundreds and hundreds of testimonies. This is another Bible-honored way of praying for the sick.  And God will give you methods.  And you’ve got to be willing to launch out and reach out and do whatever He says, whenever He does it.

Now oftentimes I say, “Lord, I don’t want You to do that in this circumstance.”  And that’s when He’ll always do it.  “I don’t want the word of knowledge to work when I go to Walmart.”  But it does.  It works wherever I go, not because of me but because of Him.  And it will work through you if you will open yourself up.

And I want to challenge you tonight to be open and say to the Lord, “However You want to use me, if it’s through the laying on of hands, if it’s through the operation of the gifts of the Spirit, if it’s anointing oil, if it’s a prayer cloth, whatever it is, if it’s a good word.”

Another method that God has given me is from Psalm 107:20, “He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction.”  Oftentimes on television I’ll take my hand and say, “According to Psalm 107, I send the word to you.”  And I’ll say, “Walk over and touch my hands as a point of contact.”

I remember in the 1950?s watching my father put his hand up on television.  I remember how the kids in my class would laugh and mock at that.  I thought about that the first night the Lord said, “Put your hands up like that.”  And that’s when I found that Scripture that God worked through the hands of the disciples.

Oral Roberts says one of the first times I ever did it, the Holy Spirit said, “Say this out loud.  There’s a woman who’s got cancer of the cervix.  She’s pregnant.  She’s going to have to abort the child and have immediate surgery, and she’ll never have a child.  Tell her I’m healing her right now.”

II said that on television.  I said, “Whoever you are, Ma?am, come over and lay your hand on my hand.”  There was a woman who had just been diagnosed with cancer of the cervix.  She was pregnant.  Her husband was a policeman.  He was on the job.  She couldn’t tell him.  So she went to her mother’s house to tell her first.
